The year is 2020. As I write this, our Malaysian government have just announced yet another 2-week extension to our lockdown. It feels like I’m spiralling down in a time loop surrounded by familiar sights that are slowly morphing into a daze of perpetual weariness. Being trapped in these four walls for an extended period of time has made me lose all sense of purpose. In a scrambling effort to find that semblance of being, even a sliver of light from the setting sun appearing on the dark corners of my wall seems like an escape route.
Until the self-isolation period ends, I’ll be waiting for sundown every other day to document my home in a different light. The kind of light that brings about a soft hum when everything else goes quiet.. The kind that turns everything it touches to gold.
